PACIM Soup Fest
Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) will hold its annual soup tasting festival Sunday, Oct. 24, 11 am-4 pm at Kolbe Hall in St. John Paul II School, 1630 4th St. NE. Seven ethnic soups will be available: Żurek (sour rye), mushroom (vegetarian), bigos (hunters' stew), vegetable (vegan), tomato, dill pickle, and Barszcz (borscht). Cost is $10/adults and $5/children under 10. Take out quarts of soup for $10; $5 for a pint.

The Columbia Heights High School Alumni Scholarship Dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 28 at Banquets of Minnesota, 6310 Highway 65 NE, Fridley. This year’s event will honor alumni Peter Heryla (class of 1988) and John Rockwell (class of 1989). A social hour and silent auction will begin at 5:30 pm. The fifth annual Minneapolis Halloween Race is set for Saturday, Oct. 30, at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park. Half and 10K start is at 8:30 am, 5K starts at 8:45 am. All races start and finish at Father Hennepin Park. Run for a cause and raise money for the Shriners Children's Hospital. Costumes not required, but are encouraged. Frozen pierogies and bowls of borsch
The Ukrainian Center will sell frozen pierogies and to-go bowls of borsch at the NE Farmers Market Winter Market, Saturday, Nov. 6, 11 am-1 pm at St. Boniface Church, 629 2nd St. NE. Pierogies include a side of sauteed onions and a sour cream packet, $13/dz. Bowls of borsch are $5. Heat and eat immediately or freeze and use for one of those really cold winter days. Fundraising proceeds benefit cultural and youth programs at the Ukrainian Center.

Traditional Scandinavian Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner
First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights, 1555 40th Ave. NE, will have its annual Scandinavian Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner, Saturday, Jan. 15, for drive up curbside pick up only.
