Time for 4- and 5-year-olds to register for school in Heights
Columbia Heights Public Schools offer full-day PreK 4 and Kindergarten at each of the district's three elementary schools – Highland, North Park School for Innovation and Valley View. If you have a child who will be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2023, it's time to register for PreK 4. A child who will be five years old by Sept. 1, 2023 should register for kindergarten. The Minneapolis Public Schools Board of Education invites the Northeast community to participate in a listening session as part of the superintendent search. The information gathered from this meeting will be used to develop an overview of the most desired characteristics of and priorities for the new superintendent. Saturday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. AND 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Northeast Library, 2200 NE Central Ave.

Meadowlark Microschool will hold an information session Saturday, March 25, 9-10:30 am at First Lutheran Church, 1555 40th Ave NE. Meadowlark is a nature-based, Waldorf-inspired first grade in Columbia Heights. Meet the teacher, explore the curriculum and get a glimpse into what your child's day and future will look like at Meadowlark. 9 am meet-and-greet followed by a short presentation and ending with a Q&A session. Patriots Marching Band garage sale
The annual St. Anthony Village Patriots Marching Band Garage Sale will occur Saturday, May 6, 8 am-6 pm and Sunday, May 7, 9 am-3 pm. Location: St. Anthony Village High School (lower gym), 3303 33rd Ave. NE, St. Anthony. Donations will be accepted at the same location 9 am-9 pm Wednesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 4. Signs will be posted for drop-off and help unloading your gently used clothing, furniture, sporting goods, toys and household items.

CHPS early childhood screening
Columbia Heights Public Schools will hold early childhood screenings on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 12-6 pm; Wednesday, Aug. 16, 8:30 am-2:30 pm; and Thursday, Aug. 17, 8:30 am-2:30 pm. Screening is required by MN State Statute 121A.17 for entrance into Minnesota public schools or within 30 days of kindergarten enrollment. Screening is best completed at three years of age. “The SpongeBob Musical”
