The Valley View Elementary Parent Teacher Organization in Columbia Heights is collecting new and used shoes in wearable condition, through March 8. Donated shoes are repurposed through micro-enterprises in developing countries, and each pair of shoes earns funds for Valley View Elementary School.

The second Taste of Fridley Gala is planned for March 8th from 6-9 p.m. at the Banquets of Minnesota to raise funds for 7th and 8th grade Fridley Middle School students who have applied and interviewed to attend a biannual east coast trip to tour Washington DC, Gettysburg, and New York City with their classmates. Around 80 students are slated to take the trip in the spring of 2019, and all of them will need to fundraise up to $1,600…
