Summer Food Service Program
Spero Academy, 2701 California St. NE, is hosting their first Summer Food Service Program. More families than ever are experiencing food insecurity, and with school out for summer, it’s important to ensure that children have access to nutritious food. They're providing free meals for children during the summer as part of their overall mission to support the growth and development of every child by addressing the needs of the whole child. The Columbia Heights Police Department, in partnership with other local organizations, will host a school supply distribution and supply drive. This event will offer both drive-up or walk-up options and will include free school supplies for kids, housing assistance resources (HOPE 4 Youth, YMCA, Guild) and free T-Rock Pizza to go. Thursday, Aug. 27, 3- 7 pm. 530 Mill Street NE, Columbia Heights. They will also accept donations of diapers and hygiene products for Southern Anoka County Assistance (SACA).

“Christmas at DeLaSalle”
Students at DeLaSalle High School have put together a pre-recorded Christmas concert, paired with a dramatic production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." The program will air Dec. 19 at 7 pm on the DeLaSalle website, www.delasalle.com. Girls on the Run Twin Cities
Registration is open for Girls on the Run Twin Cities (GOTR), a youth development program offered both virtually, in-person, and a hybrid model during the Spring 2021 season. All girls in grades 3-8 are invited. Practices begin mid-April.

Minneapolis free meal program to continue through summer
Minneapolis Public Schools will continue its free meal program for all youth 18 and younger throughout the summer of 2021. Food boxes containing a week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches will be available for pick up at select locations.
