Lights of Logan celebration
The Logan Park Neighborhood Association invites residents to the kickoff of its Lights of Logan contest with a celebration at the Logan Park Rec Center, 690 13th Ave. NE, Saturday, Dec. 14, 2-4 pm. A live performance by the Titambe West African Dance Ensemble will be followed by hot chocolate, treats, kids' activities and prizes. This event is free. Minneapolis Parks and Recreation will host two vendor markets at Nicollet Island, 40 Power St. The Fall Market will take place Sunday, Nov. 17, 10 am-4 pm, and the Winter Market will occur Sunday, Dec. 15, 10 am-4 pm. Bring your own tables, chairs, and linens. Booths will be set up inside a heated pavilion and attached heated tent. Selling packaged food is allowed with the appropriate Minneapolis licenses. The Midwest Polka Association invites the community to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of listening and dancing to a popular local polka band, Doctor Kielbasa. The dance will be held on Sunday, December 15 from 1-5 pm at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE. A celebration of December birthdays will happen, as well, so come and enjoy a cupcake with the birthday dancers! Admission is $10 per person. Bar service is available.
