Net-making Workshop
Try your hand at traditional net-making with artist Victoria Bradford Styrbicki. Learn the methods and materials used in commercial and recreational fishing along the Gulf Coast, and explore ways to expand on the counting, handwork, postures, rhythms and gestures of tying knots and weaving that go into this disappearing practice. In conjunction with the five-year anniversary of the PF Studios program, Public Functionary will release a commemorative book. Responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Piotr Szyhalski began drawing Labor Camp Reports once again. Much like the COVID-19: Labor Camp Report series from 2020, this new and ongoing body of work serves as a way of witnessing and recording the experience of “extreme historical phenomenon” unfolding in real time.
