Heights Fire Dept. open house
To promote fire safety, the Columbia Heights Fire Department invites you to the Public Safety Building's fire station on Saturday, Oct 12. Kids, young and old, can spray a real fire hose, meet Dalmatian dogs, watch a fire demonstration and meet local firefighters. 11 am-2 pm, 825 41st Ave. NE.

Owámni: Falling Water Festival is a celebration of indigenous Minnesota cultures. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 12, 1-5 pm at Mill Ruins Park and Water Works, 4 West River Pkwy. Owámni is what the Dakota called the area at St. Anthony Falls. It means, “whirling or falling water” in the Dakota language, making it an appropriate name for this festival along the Mississippi River. In this two-day class, students will make of variety of different kinds of jewelry, including beads and jewelry boxes made from air dry clay and origami paper to Shrinky Dink earrings, pendants and keychains.
