The Friends of Northeast Library and Friends of Pierre Bottineau Library held competing book sales the first weekend of December. These friend groups fundraise, partner, hold events and bring awareness to the Hennepin County Libraries in their area.
It was a win for both groups – as this was the first book sale at the libraries since 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic. The books that were sold are either cleared out from the library collection or donated by library supporters. Readers at both locations found bargain deals on hundreds of books, movies, LPs and CDs with most priced under two dollars.
The Northeast Library sale was held Dec. 2 and 3. The Friends made Literary Gift Baskets that were wrapped and ready for giving along with Northeast Library cloth book bags that were available for purchase. The Bottineau Library’s sale on Dec. 3 included a “Blind Date with a Book Table” where mystery books were wrapped up for one or two dollars. All proceeds benefit the Hennepin County Library system.
