Whether it’s heirlooms from the 1880s or mid-century modern, there’s still a place to get furniture restored and refinished in Northeast. What few know about Golden Age Furniture Restoration (formerly Old Science Renovation) is that the name was Don Sellers’ original name for his business before he met Terry Storhaug. In the 1990s, Terry Storhaug founded Old Science Renovation in St. Paul. After ten years he relocated to 1317 Marshall St. NE.
At the same time Sellers was working out of his garage for a couple of years as Golden Age, and studying at the National Institute of Wood Finishing; the two met and they decided to join forces at Old Science. Both are also musicians and formed an acoustic fusion band known as Trio Tipo. From the website, goldenagemn.com, “By 2016 the block Old Science was on, was ripe for development and a choice was made to move to another up and coming Northeast location at 3134 California St. NE. The day to day operations were being turned over to Don and it seemed to be a good time to rebrand the company in its new location as Golden Age Furniture Restoration.”
The space is a former recording studio, and the building complex also houses other craft-oriented businesses such as Riff’s Smokehouse and a brewery.
