Waite Park resident Tulley Kline has declared his candidacy for the Minneapolis City Council, eyeing the First Ward seat held by Kevin Reich since 2009.
Kline is running on a progressive platform with three policy goals and one overarching goal: to end the inequity in Minneapolis. He wants to create a green Infrastructure, leading Minneapolis past its dependency on oil and gas; build more affordable housing and building long-term housing solutions for homeless communities; and end racist policies that have led to crisis-level achievement gaps.
Kline, who has volunteered for the campaigns of Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar, plans to seek the DFL endorsement.
He holds degrees from Minneapolis Community & Technical College and the University of Minnesota and works for a software company in St. Louis Park. He is married to Maia, and has lived in or near Northeast for seven years.
