Birdwatching in the Heights, Wednesdays, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26 at 6 pm, Columbia Heights Public Library, 3939 Central Ave. NE. You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy birdwatching. Nor do you need to have a travel destination to “bird.” Some of the best birding can be done in urban settings, like Columbia Heights. Join the library for a two-part “Birdwatching in the Heights” experience. On Sept. 19 they will meet at the library and learn basic bird identification tips and how to use a field guide. On Sept. 26, they will meet at the library, walk to LaBelle Park, and practice using their ears to discover the birds around them. Registration for both programs is required. Space is limited.
