Duchnovich Day Celebration
The Rusin Association will be celebrating their Carpatho-Rusyn Heritage on Saturday, Feb. 4. The day will start with a Slavonic Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 2215 3rd St. NE. All are welcome. The afternoon events will be at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral Parish Center, 1701 5th St. NE, with a luncheon, lecture and entertainment. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a Carpatho-Rusyn lunch of soup, kolbasa, sauerkraut, pagach or perohi, and dessert. Wine and beer will be served. Following the luncheon at 2:30 p.m., Professor Magocsi will speak and sign his new book. Entertainment will be provided by Olelsiy Khrystych and the Children’s Carpathy dance ensemble. Advanced registration and payment is required for the lunch by Jan. 25: adults $25., students $10. Payment for the lecture only is $7., free for students, and payable at the door.
