St. Charles Borromeo Memorial Blood Bank
St. Charles Borromeo at 2739 Stinson Blvd. NE, St. Anthony, will host Memorial Blood Bank on Monday, Nov. 21 from 2-7 p.m. in Doran Hall. There is a constant need for blood. In Minnesota, hospitals use 700-800 units of blood each day for victims of trauma or burns, surgical patients and cancer patients. Donation’s of one unit of blood can save three lives. Salem Covenant Church Yogadevotion Class
Sign up for a five-week level one yoga class at Salem Covenant Church, 2655 5th St. NW, New Brighton, on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. The class starts on Nov. 15 and the five class series is $40. The classes begin with a devotion on the scripture written by pastor Cindy Senarighi, ordained in the ELCA. The body of the class is a combination of standing, balance and floor poses. The classes close with a benediction and prayer. No previous yoga experience is required and modifications are offered for all poses. Bring your yoga mat. Northeast Chorale Concerts
St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral Men’s Chorale in Concert
The full ensemble’s thirty-five members will present a concert on Friday, Nov. 4, 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral, 1629 5th St. NE. They will present a concert of church hymns spanning the rich history of Orthodox Christian music. Musical selections will be sung in English, and feature trios, quartets and the full ensemble singing in the a cappella style, without instrumental accompaniment. Gregory Ealy, the cathedral’s music director, will lead the ensemble. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students and under 10 are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at bit.ly/svs-stmarys2016. The concert is a benefit for St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Yonkers, N.Y., which is the premiere Orthodox theological school in North America. The Seminary’s chancellor, the V. Rev. Chad Hatfield will present a lecture after the concert during a reception in the cathedral’s community hall, across the street from the concert. Pancake and Sausage Breakfast
All are invited to the Northeast Holy Name Society Annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Kolbe Hall on the Holy Cross campus, 1621 University Ave. NE. St. Matthew polka service and dinner
The public is invited to attend the thirteenth annual polka service and dinner being sponsored by St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 4101 Washington St. NE, Columbia Heights, on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Chuck Thiel and the Jolly Ramblers Polka Band will be the featured musicians at the service, followed by a Bavarian dinner served in the church’s fellowship hall.
