Minneapolis Climate Action (MCA), the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County are working together to increase organics recycling (green cart curbside composting) in Northeast. MCA will host a series of local workshops to train “Compost Captains” in what can and can’t go in the green carts, how composting and recycling can combat climate change, the myths around composting and how to sign up friends and neighbors. The compost captain who signs up the most people to participate in the program will receive an Apple iPad (valued at $353), the captain who signs up the second highest number of participants will receive a $100 gift card and the third highest recruiter will receive a $50 gift card.
Residents who sign up for the program will receive a free countertop compost pail and compostable bags. The first twop compost captain trainings will be: Saturday, July 28, 9:30 am, Northeast Library, 2200 Central Ave. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 6:30 pm, Able Brewing, 1121 Quincy St.
Beverages and snacks will be provided at the brewery, coffee and tea will be provided at the library. Further training may be held, check mplsclimate.org/workshops.html for details if you are unable to attend the workshops above. RSVP at mplsclimate.org/workshops.html or email info@mplsclimate.org.
If you’d like to sign up for the program without becoming a captain, email info@mplsclimate.org and receive your compost pail and bags. Minneapolis Climate Action aims to inspire and empower neighbors to action with innovative climate solutions. Info: mplsclimate.org.
