Kolman & Pryor Gallery’s first exhibition of 2017 is “Worlding,” a bold foray into alternative realities that compels those to experience identity and culture, landscape and consumerism; and popular culture and technology with fresh eyes. Co-curated by gallery co-owner and curator, Patrick K. Pryor, and gallery artist, Kate Casanova, “Worlding,” brings together six artists working in diverse media who create work informed by their culturally specific perspectives: Preston Drum, Andy Ducett, Andrea Carlson, Nicole Gordon, Sarah Faye McPherson and Lamar Peterson. The exhibition opens Thursday, Jan. 5 and closes Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. A free artist reception will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 7-9 p.m. For a preview of the show contact Anita Sue Kolman, anita@kolmanpryorgallery.com, 612-385-4239 or Patrick K. Tiny Art Exhibition
Prior to World War II, visual artists rarely worked in large-scale formats. But with the advent of the United States’ Abstract Expressionist movement in the late 1940s, large-format work became popular, along with monumental sculptures, sprawling installations and elaborate site-specific pieces. In response to this bigger-is-better attitude trend, Kolman and Pryor Gallery, located in Studio 395, Northrup King Building at 1500 Jackson Street NE, announces the exhibition, “Tiny Art”, in which many of the gallery’s artists and several guest artists turn to smaller formats to investigate problems of scale and its relation to size. Show runs Saturday, September 10 through Saturday, October 22, 2016 with an artist reception on Saturday, September 24, 7-9 p.m. For more information, please call: 612-385-4239 or 612-280-7812, or email: anita@kolmanpryorgallery.com, patrick@kolmanpryorgallery.com or visit: www.kolmanpryorgallery.com.
