Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk

The race starts/ends at Boom Island Park, 700 Sibley St. NE, Minneapolis, and will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 9 am. The Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk follows the Mississippi River  over the Stone Arch Bridge. See the fall colors and the beauty of the tree canopy, river, and cityscape. They have partnered with Mill City Museum to provide highlights of the incredible history along the route, as well as Kramarczuk’s to treat you to their famous brats at the finish line. Prizes are awarded to top finishers as well as prize drawings for all that register and attend.
Proceeds benefit neighborhood parks and activities in the St Anthony West Neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Minneapolis, which includes Boom Island, BF Nelson, and Dickman parks. St. Anthony Civic Orchestra Fall Concert

The St. Anthony Civic Orchestra Fall Concert will be Sunday, Nov. 6, 3 p.m. at the St. Anthony Community Center, 3301 Silver Lake Road NE, St Anthony. Admission is free. Heights Art Fest

Heights Art Fest will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, 6-9 p.m. at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill Street NE, Columbia Heights.  This event is free and open to the public.  The event will feature food trucks, Dine 1-1, Tastebuds, and A Peace of Cake.  There will be local artists, vendors, live music, adult and youth coloring contest with prizes, free beer and wine sampling, a Lions Club cash bar and craft tables featuring local businesses, Created to Grow & Crayola Experience.

African Violet Society fall display and sale

African Violet Society of Minnesota presents a fall display and sale, “The Magic of Autumn,” Friday Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Northtown Mall, 398 Northtown Drive NE, Blaine.  They will be adjacent to Best Buy.  The event is free and will have a lot of African Violets and other Gesneriads on display and on the sales tables. Plan now for your fall/wintering gardening needs and gather any supplies you need for cultivating your new plants and old favorites. There will also be an education table and growers on hand to answer questions. Northeast Farmers Market Harvest Gala

In celebration of the strength and bounty of the local food movement, join the Northeast Farmers Market (NEFM) 629 NE 2nd St., for their fifth annual Harvest Gala, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:30-9 p.m.  The NEFM Harvest Gala features an innovative format that pairs farmers market vendors and local chefs. Chefs and farmers team up to create tasty appetizers using ingredients sourced from the Northeast Farmers Market. Appetizers are paired with custom cocktails, local beers, and ripe wines.
