Share feedback on proposed 2021 City budget at upcoming online public hearings

There are three upcoming online public hearings for people to share thoughts on Mayor Jacob Frey’s recommended 2021 City Budget, www2.minneapolismn.gov/budget/2021-budget. Comments can also be submitted online at the City’s website, www2.minneapolismn.gov/budget/budget-comments. Online public hearings: 10 am, Monday, Nov. 16; 6:05 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 2; and 6:05 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 9. Comments submitted online will be entered into the public record and shared with the mayor and council members. The City Council is scheduled to vote on adopting the budget on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Mayor Jacob Frey’s proposed $1.5 billion budget calls for a 5.75% maximum levy increase. With a 12% increase in the overall tax base, three-quarters of Minneapolis residential property owners will see a decrease in their property tax bills with the median-valued household set to experience a $59 yearly decrease.

Home Tour needs nominations in January

The Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour, April 29-30 2017, is accepting nominations at www.MSPHomeTour.com, click on “submit a home” for the option to apply online. Or request an application and more info by calling Margo Ashmore at 612-867-4874. One Northeast home is already committed, so the organizers are looking for at least two more. On the tour, homeowners share ideas with other home enthusiasts, based on their remodeling experience. Visitors are particularly interested in seeing period-accurate restoration and expansions sensitive to the surroundings. Being on the tour gives homeowners great feedback as well as the incentive to finish those last few projects. Margo Ashmore’s email is mfashmore@aol.com. Attend a Minneapolis 2040 Open House this October

Help the City of Minneapolis plan for the future, attend a Minneapolis 2040 Open House this October. Minneapolis 2040 is an update to the City’s Comprehensive plan, a document that shapes how Minneapolis will grow and change. The plan covers housing, job creation, the design of new buildings, and street use. They want to hear from you. Join them at one of these family friendly, interactive open houses. You will have the opportunity to share feedback with City planners and engage with artists to plan for the future development of Minneapolis. Complimentary refreshments and food from local vendors served. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 5-7:30 p.m. at the Midtown Global Market, 920 E. Lake Street Minneapolis.
