Meet me at the River presents, #WhatLivesMatter? A cross-cultural concert and conversation on the intersection of policing and race. Saturday, July 23, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Rd NE, Minneapolis. Open mic hosted by Joe Davis and The Poetic Diaspora. Special guests, Emmy Award winner PaviElle and American Idol finalist Dahlia Jones. Music by H-Cubed House Band, members of The Cradle Worship band, and community members of Intertwine Northeast. The event is free and open to the public. A meal will be provided free of charge and there will be childcare & children’s activities available as well. Pop up Cabaret at Honey
There will be a pop up cabaret event at Honey, 205 E. Hennepin Ave. Saturday, July 23, 6-9 p.m. Lawrence Hutera and Jeff Olson are together again for the first time since their Costa Rican tour and “Concert Under the Stars.” International music stalwarts and collaborators will perform their friendship in joyful, passionate jazz standards, ballads, pop, show tunes and bossa nova. Joining them on stage will be Vera Strandmark, the “Champagne Lady” who sang at Nye’s Polonaise Room for over 40 years and Angela Hutera, Lawrence’s niece, who will be celebrating her birthday. Other guest vocalists will be performing and there will be food and cocktails available. Cover is $7.
