Gallery 427 presents, Geometric Visions, the connection between art and mathematics. The connection between mathematics and art goes back thousands of years. Mathematics has been used in the design of Gothic cathedrals, rose windows, oriental rugs, mosaics and tiling’s. Geometric forms were fundamental to the cubists and many abstract expressionists, and award-winning sculptors have used topology as the basis for their pieces. Geometric Visions focuses on mathematics in the visual arts with four artists who incorporate the use of math and/or geometric patterns into their work to create stunning works that explore the visualization of mathematics. The opening reception is Saturday, Sept. 24, 7-10 p.m., and the closing reception will be Thursday, Oct. 6. The show will run through Oct. 8 at Gallery 427, Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE, #427. For more information call 612-379-2237 or visit www.gallery427.com.
