Faith United Methodist Church is honoring Philando Castile’s life during the month of July by displaying a mural of Mr. Castile painted by local Saint Anthony High School student Semhar Solomon and a team of friends. Philando Castile was fatally shot by a St. Anthony police officer on July 6, 2016, during a traffic stop. The church is asking for donations to the Castile Foundation which assists Twin City families cover end-of-the-school-year balances for the cost of breakfasts and lunches; inner-city children with scholarships to attend programs focused on health and nutrition; and families impacted by gun violence with funeral costs and grief counseling.
The mural will be available for viewing at the corner of 33rd and Belden Ave NE during the month of July, with a short hiatus around July 6 in honor of the fifth anniversary of Philando’s death.
