Habitat restoration info session on Nicollet Island
A habitat restoration information session will take place June 25 at DeLaSalle High School, 6:30-7:30 p.m. In partnership with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, Friends of the Mississippi River will lead a multi-year restoration of the natural areas on the north half of the island. Steps for Sleep
My Very Own Bed will host its Second Annual Steps for Sleep April 30 at DeLaSalle High School, 1 DeLaSalle Drive, on Nicollet Island. Steps for Sleep focuses on the connection between exercise and healthy sleep and encourages participants to walk at least a short loop to Boom Island and back (1.2 miles) or walk from anywhere the last week of April as a way of taking steps to promote their own health and wellbeing. For the third consecutive year, Minneapolis nonprofit My Very Own Bed will host its annual Steps for Sleep–a walk and wellness fundraising event highlighting the connection between physical activity and healthy sleep while raising awareness and funds for its work providing new beds and Dream Kits to kids.
