Truck Or Treat
Columbia Heights' annual Truck or Treat event is doing things a little differently this year, taking COVID-19 precautions. The special “Boo Drive-Thru” will feature city trucks, police cars, fire trucks, snowplows, and a number of other vehicles on display and showing off their lights as visitors drive along a guided route to view each of the stations. Music in the Park: Tjärnblom
Tjärnblom, Swedish for "woodland lake flower," is a Scandinavian-style string band featuring a beautiful blend of Nyckelharpa, Octave Mandolin, Harmonium and Cello. They travel a modern "Snoose Boulevard Highway" in their musical journey, playing a repertoire of both old and new Swedish, Finnish, Minnesotan and original tunes for dancing and for listening. Shimshock Memorial dedication
The Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) will dedicate a war memorial for Columbia Heights native Sgt. Walter Shimshock and the heroic B-17 Airlift Crew who sacrificed their lives in support of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
