“Currents”
"Currents" by sculptor Cameron Zebrun opens Jan. 14 at the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE, Studio 395. Zebrun’s sculptures incorporate sleek lines, elegant curves and seductive colors derived from nature. Cartography, geography and topography also play important roles in his work. The results are elegant sculptures formed from thin layers of wood on which he paints and collage abstractions based on his observations of nature, most lately in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. A Fresh Start Celebration
Kolman and Reeb Gallery presents "A Fresh Start Celebration," celebrating the partnership of Anita Sue Kolman and Jody Reeb, and other artists in their gallery. The exhibit, which runs through May 6, will include works by gallery artists Cameron Zebrun, Betsy Ruth Byers, Jil Evans, Abby Mouw, Kelly Jean Ohl, Julie Snidle and guest artist, Annie Irene Hejny. Apply now for The Big Tiny Show
Submit your artwork for Kolman & Reeb Gallery's upcoming juried exhibition, The Big Tiny Show. All subject matter, media and expressions are welcome, as long as they are 12" x 12" x 12" or smaller. Application Deadline: Oct. 25, 2023. Minnesota artists aged 18+ at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply. Show opens Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 3. Scents to Scenes
Kolman & Reeb Gallery announced its next Project Space grantee exhibition, "Scents to Scenes," showcasing landscape paintings by plein air artist Cheryl LeClair-Sommer. LeClair-Sommer used fragrance as a catalyst to search for locations that embodied the properties of those scents. The characteristics of each perfume inspired the mood and helped predict the color palette of the work. Making Climate Change Visible
Drawn from her experiences during the global pandemic lockdown of COVID-19, artist Carolyn Halliday hopes to summon awareness of the increased clarity of the sky because of reduced commuter traffic. Secondly, Halliday’s work will remind us of the smoky gray horizon we endured during the summer of 2023 caused by rampant forest fires. “Foreign Bodies” by Kate Casanova
Hanging daringly over the gallery or displayed on custom-made tables and shelves, Kate Casanova’s exhibition at Kolman & Reeb explores bodies and the foreign materials, such as clothing and skin piercings, that inhabit them. “Interpreting the Invisible Universe”
Holly Streekstra, a conceptual artist, works with multiple modes and forms of expression to investigate our subjective inner states, our relationship with wonder and our desire for mystery and enchantment.
