Mill Ruins Park Prairie Maintenance
Saturday, Aug. 17 & 31, 9 am-12 noon. Meet at St. Anthony Falls Visitor Center. Consider joining a group of volunteers to maintain a demonstration prairie at Mill Ruins Park. This native prairie attracts many bees, butterflies and birds while improving the Mississippi River shoreline habitat. Led by a trained National Park Service (NPS) volunteer, this crew is also sponsored by the Mississippi Park Connection and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Red Undie Run for AIDS
Sunday, December 1, 3:15 pm, Mill Ruins Park. The first annual Red Undie Run is in commemoration of World AIDS Day on December 1. Please arrive on the Mill Ruins (downtown) side of Stone Arch Bridge by 3:15 pm and be ready to strip down to your Red Undies to strip away stigma about HIV/AIDS. Owámni: Falling Water Festival
Owámni: Falling Water Festival is a celebration of indigenous Minnesota cultures. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 12, 1-5 pm at Mill Ruins Park and Water Works, 4 West River Pkwy. Owámni is what the Dakota called the area at St. Anthony Falls. It means, “whirling or falling water” in the Dakota language, making it an appropriate name for this festival along the Mississippi River.
