Nicollet Island cleanup and celebration
The Friends of the Mississippi River will host a cleanup and celebration at Nicollet Island July 11, 11 am-2 pm. Volunteers will collect trash from the shoreline and from the forested areas of Nicollet Island to prevent pollution and improve water quality in the Mississippi River. Plant + tend the demonstration prairie at Nicollet Island
Friends of the Mississippi River will meet June 8 to plant additional plugs of prairie grass and pull garlic mustard at their prairie restoration site on Nicollet Island. All are welcome. No experience is needed; however, registration is required and capacity is limited. All tools, gloves and training will be provided. The River Dreams
Join Friends of the Mississippi River to celebrate the myriad ways in which the Mississippi River sparks imagination, catalyzes action and inspires to dream of a future where its waters run wild and clean. Savor refreshments and seasonal fare, and enjoy a river-themed auction, live music and interactive learning exhibits. Edison Centennial All-Class Reunion
Come enjoy a beautiful fall evening at the Nicollet Island Pavilion on the Mississippi, Saturday, Oct. 1. Listen to the music of the Edison Jazz band and later, dance to the high energy, big sounds of High and Mighty. LGBTQIA2S+ Pride demonstration box tending on Nicollet Island
This event is for those who self-identify as LGBTQIA2S+, or as allies of the queer community. Together with the guidance of Friends of the Mississippi River staff, volunteers will dig in to tend to grasses and wildflowers which provide examples of native prairie plantings to park users.
