In Search of Lost Time

“A feather plucked from its bird” and “Fill the Void”

Benjamin Merritt’s exhibition, "A feather plucked from its bird", is titled after his eponymous new artist’s book, a variable collection of unbound handmade prints produced through multiple printmaking processes. Merritt works from copperplate etchings, scraping away the copper to transpose a long history of gestures and marks on the final print. Dreamsong presents Thai films
Dreamsong, 1237 4th St. NE, will present six short films by Thai filmmaker Anocha Suwichakornpong, Tuesday, March 15, 7 pm. The 70-minute program features work made over the last 15 years that shape-shift between genres by way of a deep engagement with the history of cinema. Blurring the line between fantasy and reality, the films present striking, intimate narratives through a feminist lens.

Allison Baker: Abject Permanence
Dreamsong, 1237 4th St. NE, announces the gallery’s first solo exhibition for Minneapolis-based artist Allison Baker (b. 1988, Detroit). Adorned with glistening teal tongues and bubblegum stucco, Abject Permanence is a fever dream that pops with color, kitsch, and a come-hither wink, teetering between salivating desire and queasy revulsion. Twin Cities Art Week

“Unpredictable Drawings” book launch
David Goldes will launch his new book, "Unpredictable Drawings," 5 pm Friday, March 3 at Dreamsong, 1237 4th Street NE. The book showcases his work using chemical and electrical transformations of materials such as graphite and silver, using high voltage electricity and sulfur compounds. Goldes holds a B.A. in Chemistry and Biology from SUNY at Buffalo, M.A. in Molecular Genetics from Harvard, and M.F.A. in Photography from the Visual Studies Workshop/SUNY-Buffalo. Tamar Ettun’s debut solo exhibition with the gallery will be exhibited March 14-18. Ettun (b. Jerusalem, Israel, 1982) uses textile, sculpture, and performance to examine somatic empathy, trauma-healing modalities, and ritual.
